The world is waiting in anticipation of the wedding of this generation, but really is there anyone more excited than us about the upcoming nuptials of Price William to Miss Catherine Middleton? We are thrilled to have the opportunity to experience the excitement first hand and are glad to take our fans, colleagues and friends along with us as we spend a week getting an inside look at the Royal Wedding.
So the royal connection actually begins before the royal engagement. We had the extreme pleasure to be invited by Her Majesty’s Consul General Sir Alan Collins KCVO CMG and Lady Collins to a private cocktail party celebrating British bridal fashion design during New York Bridal Fashion Week last October. British designers have been working to make connections to showcase their collections to US consumers. We were excited to be invited to the party and to have an opportunity to see the latest designs coming out of the UK. Since much of fashion is driven by European design, this was a great opportunity for us to Trend Spot, (not to mention the apartment of Sir and Lady Collins has the most amazing collection of artwork from the British Museum including an Andy Warhol of Her Majesty the Queen!)
We were excited to work with the UK Trade & Investment department to make inroads for these designers in the US. Our plan was to visit the UK, but at the time we had not anticipated a royal announcement would follow the next month.
When news broke about Prince William’s engagement to Miss Catherine Middleton in November, we were so excited. Certainly their wedding will influence weddings for years to come. After all, what is more magical than a fairytale Royal Wedding?
We saw this as a great opportunity to continue our Trend Spotting, so our plans started to travel across the pond to cover the Royal Wedding as well as other UK wedding fashion and wedding trends. Our long-time partner and official travel provider, Delta Vacations stepped up to sponsor our travel and accommodations. WOW! Did they hook us up! We were stunned to see we were staying at the Kensington Hotel
Beginning our countdown to the Royal Wedding we will be sharing our interviews with you over the next week leading up to the wedding. On the schedule? Interviews with Damian Clarkson from The London Kitchen who was the general manager of Prince Charles’ private caterer, (watch for us on Fox & Friends); Simon Lycett Ltd. Floral Design who is one of the three florists for the wedding; David’s Cakes who created the cake for the royal weddings of Prince Andrew to Sarah Ferguson and Prince Edward to Sophie Rhys-Jones. And, of course coverage of the wedding day itself!
Coverage starts today! Catch us on KS95 with Staci Matthews this afternoon. Then on KARE 11 tomorrow morning.
