Kate should just be leaving the Goring Hotel with her father. For past royal weddings for Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson the Duchess of York, getting ready the day of the wedding took place at the Queen Mother’s home at Clarence House. For Catherine Middleton, she has been getting ready and now departing for her marriage from the five-star Goring Hotel. The last time a royal bride in London did not leave from Buckingham Palace or Clarence House to her wedding was in 1935 when Lady Alice Montagu Douglas Scott married Prince Henry the Duke of Gloucester. The wedding was planned to be a much more elaborate wedding at Westminster Abbey but her father passed away of cancer less than one month prior to the wedding, so the actual ceremony was held in the private chapel in Buckingham Palace.
For the royal wedding of William and Catherine, the bride and her bridesmaids, flower girls and pages along with her mother and father have prepared and dressed at the famous Goring Hotel. Today, The Goring is regarded as the favorite address for anyone looking for the quintessentially English hotel in the heart of London.
A hotel where every member of the team takes terrific pride in offering the highest levels of personal service, where guests are sincerely welcomed and can enjoy elegant individual accommodations, the tranquility of its own private Gardens, and the utterly splendid Lounge Bar and Dining Room where the very best of British food has been celebrated for over a century. With just 71 rooms and suites The Goring is truly a “Baby Grand”, the finest of hotels in the perfect location but with the most intimate of atmospheres and personalized attention.
A wonderful idea for brides, to arrange a special suite to get ready in, then ushered to the waiting car for her and her father to ride to the ceremony.
