As an integral part of our twice-annual trip to New York City for Couture Bridal Fashion Week we are always on the search for a collection that catches our eyes and speaks to the forward movement of design in the bridal fashion industry. It’s a designer’s collection that stops us in our tracks. As curators of trends, and helping to endorse what “Can Be” in bridal fashion, we understand that sometimes we need to encourage brides to think outside of the box. Designers too often walk a fine line between what sells, and what is truly innovative design – not afraid to put their name on the line and stand steadfast in their vision. Here is our pick for Emerging Designer at New York Couture Bridal Fashion Week – Spring 2017.
FRANCESCA MIRANDA
Francesca Miranda’s impeccable taste and eye for beauty almost seems inborn, in fact it might be. Her father passed on a melting pot of cultures which sparked her passion for style and fashion. Her mother was a ballerina and taught her the importance of dedication, discipline and seeing the beauty in simplicity. Some of her earliest memories are those of helping her father choose fabrics for his custom shirts and ties. No wonder she developed into the incredible designer she is today.
If a breeze could be solidified you would have the materials used by Francesca Miranda in her Spring 2017 collection. 3D floral and delicate blossoms, bugle beaded bodices and flowing overskirts were show stoppers. The illusion fabrics were so light and airy we actually had to look at it in our hands to make sure it was there. Then billowing in the wind while walking is an art all of it’s own. Some call the fabric smoke it’s so light.
