Bringing two families who don’t know each other together for the first time can often cause nerves, stress and tension… that is why Kirk Holslin and Mike Anderson came up with the idea of Game Night Live! This experience brings families and friends together through fun and exciting games. If this isn’t the perfect in-law icebreaker, we don’t know what is! This week for our VOW we talked with Kirk Holslin, one of the founders to find out exactly what the game show experience is and how couples can implement it into their wedding celebration!
Q: What does Game Night Live specialize in?
A: We have a knack for bringing families and friends together by creating a family friendly gaming experience. Our events can include games in the likeness of ‘Family Feud’, ‘Jeopardy’, ‘Wheel of Fortune ‘, Extreme Bingo and Trivia.
Q: What makes Game Night Live stand out compared to other wedding entertainment options?
A: In most instances we create the first event where the bride and groom’s families and the wedding party come together for a single purpose. We set the stage for fun by transforming the traditional stale rehearsal dinner into a Game Night with excitement.
Q: When and how did Game Night Live begin?
A: Kirk Holslin, owner of Imagine Lights, and Mike Anderson, owner of Mike Anderson Weddings, have over 40 years of combined wedding experience. Game Night Live began in 2013 when Kirk approached Mike about the possibility of creating an entertainment programs that involved game activities. Following a few months of research and a bit of trial and error we developed our Game Night Live programs for weddings and corporate functions!
Q: Whats an average (event) day like for Game Night Live?
A: Our event day starts months before their wedding. We spend time gathering wedding event details that can be incorporated into the Game Night Live experience. We arrive onsite prior to the guests to begin setting up the game show and support equipment needed for the event. Time prior to show is spent mingling with family and guests to welcome them to the event and set expectations for the evening. Following the main food course or event speaker we are introduced so that the Game Night Live experience can begin!
Q: What would you want couples who are searching for the perfect entertainment experience for their wedding, rehearsal or other wedding-related event to know about Game Night Live?
A: Rehearsal dinners are most often planned at the last minute. Take time to create a rehearsal dinner that sets the stage for fun that carries through to your wedding ceremony and reception.
Q: Any advice for couples regarding choosing entertainment options for any part of their wedding celebration?
A: Take the time to meet the actual person/group who will be providing entertainment for your wedding celebration. They should have as much passion preparing for your wedding day as you do.
Q: What is the “Game Show Experience?”
A: The ‘Game Night Live’ experience provides guests with the opportunity to participate in a game show. The lights, the game board, the game buzzers, the game console, the fun all work together create the “Game Night Live” experience.
