In honor of voting opening for Matt and Kay’s Honeymoon destination today, we sat down with Sherri from AAA Minneapolis for this week’s V-O-W. She gave us some insight on all things honeymoon, and let’s face it… it’s been a long winter so we needed an excuse to research some tropical locations!
Q: What does AAA Travel offer for couples looking to travel for a honeymoon or destination wedding?
A: We are a full service Travel Agency helping clients book honeymoons all over the world. We book air, tours, hotel, transfers, car rentals, trains and specialty events to make the honeymoon exactly what the couple is dreaming about.
Q: What sets AAA Travel apart from others when it comes to honeymoon?
A: We have a Romance Travel team with special training to add the special touches to the honeymoon. They do a great job listening to the couple and suggesting destinations basic on their ideas.
Q: What are some of your personal favorites when it comes to honeymoon destinations?
A: Riviera Maya in Mexico offers some great adult only all-inclusive hotels for the beach honeymoon. Italy is great for couples wanting to explore sites and still have the romantic destination. Bora Bora offers great over-the-water bungalows most couples dream about.
Q: What are some unique honeymoon options for couples who are looking to do something different?
A: Iceland is a little off the beaten path but offers non-stop flights from Minneapolis in the summer – making it an easy flight to a destination with so much to offer.
Costa Rica has beach and soft adventure for couples wanting a good mix of activities and beach time. Croatia has history, national parks and coastline for couples to explore, making it a great option for couples wanting many options.
Q: What are some benefits of having a destination wedding?
A: Destination Wedding takes the stress out of planning a wedding and is much more cost effect for the Bride and Groom. It also gives you more time to spend with your guest as you can schedule a day activity a few days before or after the wedding.
It is nice for the Bride and Groom change resorts a day or so after the wedding for the honeymoon making it 2 trips in one.
Q: How far in advance should couples plan their honeymoon?
A: It is great to start about 6-9 month before the honeymoon to most destinations. Some do book up faster do you need to start earlier.
Q: What would be your advice for couples just starting their honeymoon planning process?
A: Have an idea of what you consider your ideal honeymoon and what is most important to you. The AAA Romance Team will help you find places fitting your ideas.
