We had the opportunity to get a 1 on 1 interview with the CEO, Founder, and Creative Director of Isabelle Armstrong- Remy Quinones.
1. How would you describe the Isabelle Armstrong bride?
Answer: The Isabelle Armstrong bride can be any woman. Simply put she is the woman who wants a beautiful gown to make her feel pretty and extraordinary on her wedding day.
2. If you could use one word to describe your latest collection what would it be?
Answer: Modern vintage…oh yeah…those are two words!
3. What inspires you when you are designing? What inspired the latest collection?
Answer: I find inspiration everywhere. However, the latest collection (Fall 2019) was inspired by the “Gibson Girls” sketches created by Charles Dana Gibson in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. These illustrations embodied his vision of the modern woman. The new collection features gowns with vintage elements from that era interpreted in fresh and modern ways.
4. When did you start designing for bridal and when did you know you wanted to create your own bridal label?
Answer: I launched the first Isabelle Armstrong bridal collection in October 2013. I’m not sure exactly when I decided to create my own bridal label but it was a process that evolved over a period of time and was inspired by the many couture wedding gowns that I carried in my own couture bridal salon.
5. How has the Isabelle Armstrong brand evolved since its founding in 2013?
Answer: I have tried to stay true to the vision I had when I first launched the brand. I wanted to create beautiful and luxurious wearable pieces of art, pieces that make a bride feel incredibly special on her wedding day. Like any other aspect of fashion, brands evolve as trends change. However, I always try to maintain the true spirit of the brand in my pieces and strive for classic looks with interesting and fresh twists.
6. If you could give brides/readers who are looking for their dream dress one piece of advice what would it be?
Answer: Keep an open mind and drown out the noise. Even though a bride may think that they want a particular silhouette or look, she should try things that she might not necessarily be inclined to try. When searching for a dream dress, brides need to remember that they need to love the dress. It’s great to have feedback but too many opinions may lead to confusion. In the end, each bride needs to wear what they love and envision themselves wearing on their special day.
