Planning one-on-one time together
Whether it’s making sure to have a home cook meal and conversation once a week, or sitting down and talking for 10-20 minutes about each others day, spending time with just the two of you is important! Making effort for one-on-one time together is an awesome goal to have as a newlywed coming into a new year.
Unplug from technology
We all can admit to being addicted to our phones, computers, laptops, or Ipads. Unplug from the technology world! Be in the moment with your significant other, go on walks with the dog, or meal prep your lunches for the week!
Weekly date nights
Keep the romance alive! Having a specific date night in the week to look forward to is a fabulous tradition to have as a newlywed. Whether its a romantic meal at home, a casual outing to your local bar and grille, or a fancy sit down meal spending affectionate time together is a must for the new year.
$ave more
Let’s ditch the financial arguments this year. Budgeting and becoming more frugal with your money is the new years resolution for 2019.
Positive vibes only
As obvious as it can be creating more positive energy and kindness in your relationship will set you up for an even better year together. Practicing putting out more positivity in your everyday life can even be the little things like complimenting each other, or telling each other what you appreciate about them!
Set up a romantic getaway (other than your honeymoon)
Get away from it all! Plan a week or weekend in the new year for a getaway. Whether its a spa weekend up north or a sunny vacay on a sandy beach. A romantic getaway is a perfect way to get escape everyday living and enjoy each others company.
Never go to bed angry
A saying old as time. Never go to bed angry with your significant other. This toxic habit creates even more tension and anger for the next day. Making sure to talk out the situation or how both of you feel about the problem then talking through and resolving situations before bed is so important for any couple old or new.
Spend time with both of your spouses family
Don’t let the holidays be the only reason you get to see each other families. Planning out times to have gatherings with each other’s parents or other relatives is an awesome goal to have this year to stay close with your families.
Eat healthier together
Not only eating healthier makes you feel better but doing it with your significant other motivates you both more to better yourselves. Even doing fun workout classes together a couple times a week or month is an awesome addition to a healthier lifestyle.
Don’t take work home
Leave your work at the office! Don’t bring work home, come home to relax and unwind from your busy day. Take the time to chat about each others day and spend genuine time together.
Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
