Each April and October we are fortunate enough to get front row seats as the top bridal fashion designers showcase their newest collections during New York Bridal Fashion Week. Our trip last week allowed for us to preview the Fall 2020 Bridal Fashion Collections for the upcoming season. From hailing at least 50 taxis, (and doing some walking if the shows were located close to each other), we were excited to be back in New York for all the hustle and bustle the city has to offer. As a precursor to our final wrap-up of New York Bridal Fashion Week in our October 16th Newsletter we thought we would give you s sneak peek at these top three trends.
Glitter and Feathers:
From the beginning of the shows we started seeing the trends develop. Feathers! Did a pillow just explode? The delicate Ostrich feathers were in almost every collection in some form or another. Some were on the gown’s skirt while other feathers were used to create stylish capes and jackets. We have seen a lot of glittery skirts and this season was no exception however they were a little more tame and subdued with using the use of organza over all that sparkle.
Puffy Sleeves:
When you start to say puffy sleeves when it comes to bridal, people automatically think back to the gown Princess Diana wore to her wedding in 1981. Well that’s not too far fetched, but we also have romantic puffy sleeves that are detachable so you can be more urban chic when you groove on the dance floor. From the big puff sleeves to the smaller, less billow ones, to the bishop sleeves to bell sleeves, one thing was certain – sleeves were out in full force.
3-D Flowers and Bows:
The use of 3-D flowers continues this season allowing for a very romantic and sweet style. The interesting thing about the flowers is how they are being intermingled with lace as if the floral lace is the canvas and the flower is evolving from the painting. Bows are not for just the back of the waist but now we see them on sleeves, shoulders and untied falling into a beautiful train.
Stay tuned in for next weeks Full Fashion Report!
