Wedding cakes have been around for centuries, and are always a popular element at weddings. Long gone are the days when the groom would break a loaf of bread over the bride’s head (as was once done in ancient Rome). Lucky for us, the wedding cake of modern times is prettier (and usually sweeter). We spoke with Bryce Quinn of Café Latte, who told us what desserts will wow your guests, right now.
AN UPTICK IN CUPCAKES
As we mentioned, cakes aren’t going anywhere, but consider cupcakes as one of many desserts that will wow your guests. “We can make many different types to suit the bride and grooms wishes. We have buttercream, German, Turtle, Tres Leches, Carrot or Banana varieties. Also, our gluten-free Flourless Chocolate Cake is a big seller. Dense, rich, and satisfying.”
Another nice element to cupcakes is that you can order different flavors and guests can choose from a variety. Also, guests might sooner indulge in a cupcake, because it might feel like they are taking less if they have a cupcake, rather than a piece of cake.
TRES LECHES IS HOT!
At Café Latte, Quinn tells us that they started making a Vanilla Tres Leches cake and it’s now their number one seller. Their Baby Tres Leches serves two people, just perfect for the couples’ photo-op. The trick to their popular dessert? “2 layers of vanilla cake soaked with sweet and condensed milk and heavy whipping mixture surrounded by Vanilla Whipped cream and a ring of raspberries. We use only the best vanilla to make a sweet and flavorful light and fluffy dessert.” Who could resist that?
A VARIETY OF HUES, OR NONE AT ALL
With the colder months, couples are craving comfort food, and with that, also some unusual color choices for cakes. They might choose a dark hue such as navy, or they might go colorless, with a naked cake. Either way, add some greenery, and you’re good to go for desserts that will wow your guests.
