Ooey gooey, and oh so delectable. Who doesn’t love diving into a s’more around a fire during a Minnesota summer night? Better yet, you can incorporate this staple into your wedding as a dessert alternative and as a way to get your guests involved. In honor of National S’mores Day on August 10th, we chatted with a local company that brings the outdoors in with their incredible build-your-own s’mores bar. Check out how North Mallow got started and why you have to have them at your wedding.
Q: Let’s get to it, what’s your business’ specialty?
A: Build Your Own S’mores Bar with our own gourmet marshmallows!
Q: Where can we find you?
A: Our Tasting Room and kitchen are in Long Lake, MN
Q: Tell us when and how your business began.
A: Sparked around a Minnesota campfire, the idea of a flavorful, better-for-you marshmallow inspired us to create North Mallow marshmallows in 2014.
As camp counselors, we have some serious s’more-making skills and recognized that the simple act of roasting marshmallows created joy and connections among our campers – experiences that would last a lifetime.
Together as a husband and wife team, we want to share the joyful moments we experienced at camp and successfully improve upon the classic to deliver a delicious line of mallows that roast to the perfect, gooey consistency and that we can feel good about sharing with our family, friends, and campers.
We believe food should be made with simple, real ingredients. Unlike traditional marshmallows, we never use high fructose corn syrup, chemical preservatives, or anything artificial. That way, North Mallow is a flavorful, feel-good treat that everyone can enjoy.
Q: What makes your company unique from others?
A: North Mallow’s S’mores Bar Catering brings a fun experience for you and your guests to enjoy. We offer three flavors of our marshmallows and a variety of chocolates!
With the guidance of our Roast Masters staffed at every event, your guests will get to customize their own s’mores and roast their gourmet marshmallows to the perfect golden brown.
Q: Walk us through your average day.
A: We clean and pack the s’mores bar at our kitchen in Long Lake. We make sure the marshmallows are fresh. We arrive about an hour early for set up. After set-up, we have the couple do their First Roast s’mores that always make great photos! We are there for 3 hours for roasting.
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: At least 1 month. We have several roasting stations and can do multiple weddings in a night.

Q: What can we expect to see more of in party desserts in the future?
A: Focusing on the experience!
Q: What are your other hobbies and passions besides creating delicious sweets?
A: I love camping, traveling and hikes with my dog.
