One of the great aspects of getting married in the fall is the variety of desserts you can choose from for you and your guests. We’ve collected some must-have desserts for fall weddings so you can see just how many options there are. Talk to your baker about the many sweet options available during this changing-of-the-leaves season.
BRONZE IS THE NEW METALLIC
Cakes with gold and silver details will remain popular — they are beautiful and regal. But a new trend that is of-the-moment and special cakes with bronze details. Just as rose gold has popped up in fashion and jewelry, bronze is just gorgeous on wedding cakes as you can see from these examples from De la crème Creative Studio, making it one of the many must-have desserts for fall weddings that we hope sticks around for a while.
And another cake we just love with bronze splatter paint detailing is this cake by Buttercream Bakeshop, shot by With Love and Embers.
FERN EMBELLISHMENTS
Wedding cakes have been embellished with flowers for as long as we can remember. One floral design we’re seeing often during Autumn months is the use of ferns. This cake from Flourish Cake Design shows off delicate ferns with pretty pressed florals and pomegranate, cherries, and blackberries.
MARBLE DETAILS
Just like the many beautiful materials out there to decorate your home, cake bakers are influenced by stone, marble, and other natural substances and we’re seeing them on cakes. Remember that Geode trend we told you about? Now we’re also seeing cakes that look like they are made of marble, such as this creative confection from De la Crème Creative Studio.
SEASONAL DESSERTS
Nothing says fall more than an apple pie, and pies are always a dessert mainstay at Autumn affairs. With COVID-friendly mini foods all the rage, there is no better time to serve guests mini pies. Consider apple, pumpkin, and pecan pies, and there are so many variations of each! Love chocolate? Infuse it in your pumpkin pie. Oatmeal your fave cookie? Consider an oatmeal cookie crust for your apple dessert.
“I like a good cookie, no matter what the season. There’s something about the simplicity of a cookie that I find really satisfying.”
The possibilities are endless and the yummy-factor never ends! Even if you’re set on serving wedding cake, these pie favorites will make guests very happy. Macarons are also always a crowd-pleaser, as are cookies, and these from Johnjeanjuan are as beautiful as they are tasty. Owner Terry John Zila remarks on his year-round favorite dessert, regardless of season, “I like a good cookie, no matter what the season. There’s something about the simplicity of a cookie that I find really satisfying.”
