We know, we know, with 2020 just behind us (whew!) it’s hard to believe it’s almost Valentine’s Day. And in 2021, it’s on a weekend. Does that up the pressure to plan a creative celebration? No worries, we’ve got you covered with romantic Twin Cities Valentine’s Day dinner options that are still mindful of COVID restrictions. Check them out!

You and your partner will be surrounded by romance and elegance with a spectacular in-room dining experience at Hotel Ivy. Begin the evening with a 3-course crafted dinner and then kick back in their Luxury Suite for a unique Downtown Minneapolis staycation!
This deal is available Thursday, February 11th through Sunday, February 14th, and is $90 per person + the price of the special suite rate. Contact Tom Peters to book at (612) 353-3512 or by email at [email protected].
Valentine’s Day at the Hewing Hotel
First up in our Twin Cities Valentine’s Day Dinner picks is a historic hotel in downtown Minneapolis. The Hewing Hotel has transformed several guest rooms into private dining suites by moving the beds out and tables in. This private dining experience was popular in December and has been elevated even more for Valentine’s weekend.
Sam Ziegler
The chef-driven, 7-course tasting menu with an option to add on wine pairings is delivered in a safe and contactless way to a table just outside the door. There is a video presentation from the chef before each course where he explains the inspiration and preparation behind each dish. Guests signal when they are ready for the next course by returning their empty plates to the table outside the door. For Valentine’s weekend, guests will receive a signature Hewing Old Fashioned upon arrival. The dinner will be 8 courses and you’ll receive a glass of bubbles at the end.
Prior to publication, Saturday night was booking up fast but Friday and Sunday nights still had openings. Reservations here!
Rand Tower Hotel
Rand Tower Hotel has transformed its guest rooms into private dining experiences accommodating guest parties ranging from two to six. Jennifer Rose, Director of Sales and Marketing, told us all about it. “The In-Room Dining Escape offers guests and locals alike the opportunity to experience Chef Vyskocil’s craft in VIP style. You and your significant other can wine and dine over an 8-course meal on a romantic night out over candlelit conversation and fabulous foods.” Reservations for this experience are available for February 12-14th, cost $200 per person + applicable taxes and fees, $75 Guest Room Rental Fee and you get 3 Hours for the Private Room. Book reservations or email the hotel at [email protected].

Another great in-person or at-home Twin Cities Valentine’s Day dinner date is at The Lynhall. Anne Spaeth, the founder of the restaurant, says “We have a special Valentine’s Afternoon Tea. The Tea is available for both dine-in at our Edina location or for Take-out/Delivery, and menu details are still being worked out.”
The Take Lynhall Home Valentine Dinner Kits are available for pre-order and are for 1, 2, or 4 with options featuring Beet and Walnut Salad, Lobster Bisque, and Grilled Bistro Fillet. Vegetarian options will be available. Spaeth further explains, “We will also have the Fondue Kit with accouterments, Cheese and Charcuterie platters and other ala carte appetizers and sides. For desserts, we will have a rose and rose chocolate torte, white chocolate raspberry truffles, and chocolate-dipped strawberries with champagne and roses.” Contact The Lynhall for more info.
Chowgirls Catering
The folks at Chowgirls have several ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day ranging from at-home dinners for 2 to dessert box options and cocktail kits you can mix up in the comfort of your kitchen. For dinner, choose from Braised & Glazed Short Ribs, Grilled Salmon, or a Stuffed Portobello entree. All come with tasty sides! Check out Chowgirls for more info.
Automat Dinners
Desiree’ Dorwart, Owner, COO, Create Catering & The Dining Studio, and Owner, Gemini Farm, told us their dinners are available for pick up at their studio. “People can order the dinner through our website and add on a few little favorites, including a bottle or two of wine! It is super simple to use and quite a deal. They can select a time to pick up at our studio (in a socially distanced way) and enjoy a great meal (they heat/finish the meal themselves).” Their menu serves two for $75 and items are available for pick up Friday, February 12th from 3-6 pm.
