If you’re on the hunt for a wedding venue that truly has 5-star service, you have to check out Oak Glen Golf Club! We chatted with the Assistant General Manager, Samantha, about how their property has everything you need for a stress-free and elegant wedding day.
Q: Let’s get to it, what’s your business’ specialty?
A: Our level of service is something you will not find anywhere else. We provide 5-star level dining in a banquet setting. Meaning, our staff is highly trained by an individual who is FORBES 5-STAR certified, and we provide synchronized serving. If you have never heard of this, essentially all guests at a table get served at the exact same time, on cue. We pride ourselves on making sure all guests are well taken care of, therefore we maintain a 10-1 guest to employee ratio to ensure all needs are met. To put this into perspective, an event with 250 guests will be served dinner in under 10 minutes. We offer top-of-the-line food homemade by our well-cultured chef and specialize in customizing your meals to you.
Another fan favorite of Oak Glen Golf Club is the spacious bridal suite and groom’s den. Space for about 25 people comfortably in each. The groom’s den has games to keep them entertained, and the bridal suite has mirror space for 9 people to get ready at once which is always a hit. Plus I can’t forget the mimosa bar and beer buffet.
Q: Where can we find you?
A: Just north of downtown Stillwater, 1599 McKusick Rd N Stillwater, MN, 55082.
Q: How long have you been in the industry? What do you think has changed the most since then?
A: I have been in the industry for 9 years. What has changed the most is the strategy of marketing. Social media is everything now – and it’s hard to keep up with! Managing a social platform is a full-time job in itself.
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: Grab a black peach sparkling tea with light ice and three pumps of raspberry from Caribou, light my Bath and Body Works candle, turn on some jams, answer emails, interact with my staff and check in with all departments of the golf course. On my lunch break, I go hit a couple balls on the practice range, then wrap up the day with meetings, tours, and tastings. On wedding days… Different story. 😉
Q: What would you want couples searching for their wedding venue to know?
A: There are no dumb questions, and choose wisely! As someone who does not plan weddings every day, there is a lot to question. Never let anyone make you feel dumb for asking something, they are all important questions. Choosing the right vendors is so important, they are supposed to educate you and help you along the way, not make you feel dumb. So choose wisely, you will thank yourself later.
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with Oak Glen Golf Club?
A: Ideally, one year. We can do anything though – only a month away? We got you.
Q: What is the biggest crowd-pleaser at your venue?
A: Synchronized serving. Guests sit there with their jaws on the floor. It really is an experience like no other. Also, throwing the bouquet off the balcony is always fun 😉
Q: What are your other hobbies and passions besides creating beautiful wedding days?
A: I have a passion for waterskiing. I am a part of the Twin Cities River Rats Waterski Showteam in Northeast Minneapolis and have been since I was 7 years old. Come check us out for free on Thursday nights!
