There are so many wedding venues in Minneapolis. How do you choose just one? The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis is a historic location right in Loring Park featuring thoughtful architecture and incredible views.
Get to know the Director of Strategic Growth below as we talk about the history behind the venue and what brides and grooms love most about it.
Q: Let’s get to it, what’s your business’ specialty?
A: Since 1907, The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis has been a source for positive social change in our community. Events, weddings, fine dining, theater, community events, and programming activities are just some of the work that is happening at 410 Oak Grove Street. But inside… there is so much more going on!
The Club and its diverse membership helped launch the first public school nurse program in the country. It established lunch programs in public schools, advocated for child labor protection laws, and has raised more than $5 million for area non-profits.
Q: Where can we find you?
A: 410 Oak Grove Street, Minneapolis, MN
Q: What makes your company unique from others?
A: The Club not only hosts and plans public and private events but also houses a theater and assists in creating lasting memories including weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, and corporate parties.
Q: How long have you been in the industry? What do you think has changed the most since then?
A: Event Planning and Development for over 20 years. Event concepts, budgets, and themes have evolved but weddings & love continue to flourish – the passion around creating a memory that will last a lifetime never goes out of style!
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: Working at a Club offers unique days. It’s actually never the same thing twice! Daily activities include strategic meetings, membership meetings, event planning, community interaction, facility needs, fundraising but above all else…delivering the best possible customer experience to our members and our partners is top priority!
Q: What would you want couples searching for their wedding venue to know?
A: Don’t judge a book by it’s cover! Take a chance and see the space for yourself! Call and book a tour even if it’s not right for your wedding…it’s a part of our community history to see!
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: We will do our very best to accommodate anything. That being said… Covid restrictions have been our main obstacle this past year but always looking ahead with great hope!
Q: What is the biggest crowd-pleaser at your venue?
A: Definitely the historic architecture and décor. So many stories of over 100+ years are housed in this building. That combined with the gorgeous views of Loring Park and our rooftop makes this place one of a kind!
Q: What are your other hobbies and passions besides creating beautiful wedding days?
A: I grew up in a restaurant environment and in a large family so food and fellowship were always present. I love cooking, following the restaurant scene, supporting the hospitality and arts industry. And anytime you can get me on the golf course — I’m in!
Q: What is the history behind your venue?
A: The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis was founded in 1907 by 6 women who knew that together they could do more for the community than they could alone. In 1927, they outgrew their space and built the six-floor Clubhouse, now designated a Historic Treasure by the City of Minneapolis. The Club has a long-standing commitment to community service and involvement, especially on women’s and children’s issues.
Over the last 100 years, The Woman’s Club became a place where women could collectively educate themselves about social problems and organize reform efforts which translated their opinions into public policies and practice. Their dedication and resolve continues to be reflected in the accomplishments of the Club today.
