Having your wedding filmed is becoming so popular as couples want to capture and relive their day. I Thee Wed Films is here to capture your day exactly how you want it and deliver quickly! Get to know how they got their start and see some of their work below.
Q: Let’s get to it, what’s your business’ specialty?
A: Filming weddings in their entirety, editing the footage down to its essence, and adding the style of the couple to that edited footage.
Q: Where can we find you? (Location)
A: We are based out of Lakeville, MN. We generally service most of Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
Q: Tell us when and how your business began.
A: I Thee Wed Films is a collaboration of Tom Kling & Bjorn Jensen. The partnership began when Tom joined Bjorn’s Northern Sound Entertainment as a DJ. From there, Bjorn used his business savviness and Tom used his creativity, technology enthusiasm, and love of film to form what would eventually become I Thee Wed Films.
Q: What makes your company unique from others?
A: Videography is still a new market and only our imagination limits what we can offer our clients. All of our videos are customized with the wedding couple’s style and music in mind. After filming a wedding, ALL of the edited wedding videos are completed within 30 days. The videos are easily shareable on social media and we back up clients’ videos for a LIFETIME! We are also in the process of offering physical wedding video books with 7” screens. It’s truly a fun time to be a wedding videographer!
Q: How long have you been in the industry? What do you think has changed the most since then?
A: We started offering wedding videography through Northern Sound Entertainment in 2017, and then spun off I Thee Wed Films as a dedicated videography business in 2019. The biggest difference has been the technology component. Every aspect has improved. We can film in higher quality, edit and produce videos quicker, and share them quickly and more easily than before.
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: Responding to potential customers, editing wedding footage, and preparing for the next event to film. On filming day, my priority is to arrive early, stakeout camera placement for the ceremony, and stay with the wedding party so I don’t miss a moment of compelling footage.
Q: What would you want couples searching for wedding videography needs to know?
A: #1 priority is to know how much edited film the wedding couple will receive from their videographer. Many videographers only offer a highlight reel of the wedding day that’s 10-15 minutes long. I Thee Wed Films specializes in filming the day in its entirety and offering fully edited wedding ceremonies, speeches, prayers, first dances, and more!
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: At least a month out from the wedding date. This gives us time for booking and setting up an in-person or phone call sit-down with your videographer.
Q: What’s one wedding trend you wouldn’t be sad to see fade out?
A: The Garter Toss. It’s passé. I think we’re all embarrassed when it happens at a wedding.
Q: What’s trending in wedding photography and videography right now?
A: For videographers, it’s the advancement in technology. We can do so much with video content that we couldn’t do 5 years ago. Filming in 4K, editing videos quickly, and accessing video content has never been easier or faster. Having a videographer at your wedding will become essential in the next 5 years.
Q: Describe your photography/videography style.
A: Documentary and traditional. Mixing styles allows us to showcase the beauty of the day, all-the-while showcasing the emotion, humanity, and unpredictable moments. People, emotions, and reactions provide the most compelling video.
Q: Do you ever travel to shoot weddings? If so, what has been your favorite destination so far?
A: Yes, we are willing to travel! The most memorable one has been Superior Shores in Two Harbors, MN. Can’t beat a warm Fall day on the North Shore. Gorgeous shoreline and colorful fall foliage made filming a breeze!
LIGHTNING ROUND!
Q: What show are you binging right now?
A: Barry on HBO. Bill Haider is the best.
Q: You’re in charge of the lineup for your dream concert. Who are your headliners?
A: The Strokes, Miley Cyrus, Talking Heads, The Beatles, and Pet Shop Boys. WEIRD, RIGHT?!?
Q: Gold or Silver?
A: I love GOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLDDDDDD!
Q: Black Tie or Casual?
A: Black Tie, cause I love forcing Minnesotans to wear anything but jeans.
Q: You’re at brunch. Are you going for something sweet or savory?
A: Sweet. Any pastry really.
Q: Favorite board game?
A: Pandem….. I mean Settlers of Catan. Yeah, forget that first board game I mentioned.
Q: Do you have any favorite podcasts?
A: Is Howard Stern a podcast?
Q: Mountains or Beach?
A: Mountains.
Q: If you could choose any celebrity or public figure to sit next to on a plane, who would it be?
A: Barack Obama.
