When you think of a typical bachelor party, you may think bar-hopping, gentleman’s clubs, and what has been historically the groom’s “last hurrah”. But, today’s groom is more refined and looking to celebrate with a sophisticated bachelor party. So, we have creative ideas that include ways to have a fun celebration to keep the crew busy and entertained all day or weekend long right here in the Twin Cities.
1. Virtual Cocktail Class
Not only will everyone be excited to kick off the night with a craft cocktail, but you can learn a skill to use at your next party! Simeon at Equal Parts Cocktail Company says it’s an unforgettable drinking experience and will transform your party. “Hosting a cocktail class is an incredible way to ‘get your hands dirty’ (figuratively speaking, of course!) while learning the tips and tricks of creating that perfectly balanced cocktail,” he explains.
“During our cocktail classes, we will guide you and your guests through the history of bartending and cocktails, discussing key techniques for making killer cocktails at home. We’ll chat about ice, dilution, bitters, bar tool etiquette, etc. We’ll shake cocktails, we’ll stir cocktails, we’ll laugh, we’ll drink, we’ll become friends.”
2. Axe Throwing
Toss on your flannel button-ups and get ready for a seriously thrilling experience at the Twin Cities premier Axe Throwing and Lumberjack Sports Experience, FlannelJax’s. “If you’re looking for something different for your bachelor party, FlannelJax’s is the perfect spot,” says a FlannelJax’s representative. “Trained Lumberjacks will teach your party all of the ‘axe-citing’ axe throwing games, and you can challenge your friends with Twin Cities favorites like Thump the Stump and Crosscut Sawing. Of course, you can enjoy a drink or two from the bar while you throw, and even order in some local takeout if your group works up an appetite.”
FlannelJax’s
The best part is, this activity is great for any sized party and has 1 or 2-hour sessions including private throwing courts. Plus, there’s an option to book the entire venue for parties! They say “You won’t find a more extreme bachelor party experience in the Twin Cities.”
3. Golf Simulator
A popular sophisticated bachelor party activity is to hit the greens. But if you don’t want to worry about the weather or find that the groomsmen are uninterested, think about heading to a golf simulation bar. “Birdi Golf is a next-level bachelor/bachelorette party, groom’s dinner, and wedding reception venue,” says Eric Delacy, Co-Founder of Birdi Golf.
The 10,000 square foot facility opened in October of 2019 providing groups of 20-300 people with endless fun. “Birdi has 8 of the best golf simulators in the world (best simulator 5 years running per Golf Digest), a large restaurant, 27 TV’s along with a great sound system, a scratch kitchen that can execute almost anything, and a full bar that boasts 20 tap beers (50 total), over 75 whiskeys and bourbons, and a great craft cocktail menu! For those nice days, Birdi has a great patio with heat and fireplace on cooler nights and a cooling misting system for those hot days,” Delacy describes.
4. Steakhouse Dinner
There’s nothing quite as swanky as enjoying top-shelf bourbon with a juicy ribeye steak with the crew. Make a reservation (a while in advance) at renowned spots like Manny’s Steakhouse and Jax Cafe, or check out more modern digs at P.S. Steak.
5. Brewery Tour
Another activity that includes education and libations is a brewery tour. The Twin Cities is home to one of the best craft beer scenes in the country, so why not take advantage of it? Reserve a tour at local staples like Fulton Brewing, Dangerous Man, Bad Weather, or the iconic Summit Brewing Co.
6. For the Kid at Heart
Tap into nostalgia while getting into a little friendly competition at Up-Down Arcade Bar in Uptown Minneapolis. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by their extensive tap beer list and selection of old-school games like PAC-MAN and Mario Cart. Plus, they have outdoor spaces and a rooftop to enjoy if your party is in the summer months.
7. Classy Casino
Plan a mini getaway to Mystic Lake Casino, the biggest casino in the state, for a truly sophisticated bachelor party. With over 125,000 square feet of gaming area, 4,000 slot machines, 80+ live table games, four dining areas, and an on-site hotel, the groom and his groomsmen are in for an exciting weekend less than an hour from the Twin Cities.
8. For the Music Lover
Check out the concert schedule at the iconic First Avenue and plan your celebrations around seeing a live show. This historic venue is a definite must if you’re planning a night in Minneapolis. Right in the heart of Downtown, there are plenty of activities to do before and after the concert!
9. Out to the Ballgame
What better way to please the sports enthusiast groom than with a day or night out at a baseball game! Even if you’re not that into baseball, a Twins Game is a fun and affordable group activity for everyone. Target Field is a spacious sports venue with endless food and craft beer options. Plus, it’s located in the bustling North Loop neighborhood filled with breweries, restaurants, rooftop bars, and lots more to stay busy.
There are SO many options to have a sophisticated bachelor party that includes creative activities and memorable experiences.
