When deciding what you want your wedding to look like, think outside the box and consider decor details and colors that reflect you and your future spouse’s personality. In this Wedding Trends Look Book feature, we discover a theme called “Avant Garden” where maximalism and over-the-top hues take center stage.

Inspired by the maximalist movement and the desire for more Instagrammable moments, oversized décor and bright colors fused to create a design titled: Avant Garden. Unexpected elements and varying textures came together in a juxtaposition with bold furniture and artistic motifs. This inspiration evokes a “more is more” atmosphere with an unusual palette that goes beyond the expected. This creates a fun and festive reception that keeps guests’ eyes interested throughout the space. The setting transports you into an eccentric wonderland combining a modern menu with unique flavor pairings, signature cocktails and wines, and over-the-top décor.
The reception table details were custom and intentional. Guests were welcomed into the reception by modern white acrylic tables surrounded by tall lime green upholstered dining chairs. Tables were topped with varying bulbous silver and clear vases and botanical greenery centerpieces with white Chrysanthemum for a botanical feel. Red and white wine glassware with a classic silhouette gave a sophisticated flair. Contemporary, textured pasta bowls sat atop clean white plates for a refined and unfussy look. Bright yellow napkins folded across the bowls holding laser-cut wooden place cards that were both functional and design-forward.
The maximalist feel continued throughout the Avant Garden tablescape with multiple textures seen on the décor with varying materials like acrylic, wood, porcelain, and crystal. Bountiful blooms catch the eye then shift to the upright graphic menus with a bespoke pattern seen across other stationery including the invitations, welcome sign, and bar sign.
Upon entering the ceremony space, guests are met with 10’ tall bright yellow doors that tie into the unique design. Here, you’ll see four large foam flowers hanging from the ceiling that give “floral installation” a whole new meaning. Look closely and you’ll see that the 6-tier deconstructed wedding cake has hand-painted sugar flowers to match! Tall black billowing towers act as the backdrop of the ceremony space as guests find their seats in rows of white leather settees.
We are seeing celebrations return in a big way prompting couples to curate a bold design and think outside the box.
The palette of canary yellow, teal, bright white, and silver evoke a whimsical feeling that allows guests to break out of their shells. Everywhere you look, you’ll see a different texture paired with vivid colors. Dramatic and detailed accents fill the space from floor to ceiling from the larger-than-life installations to the laser-cut hanging wooden signs.
Throwing out the traditional design rules of a wedding allows a fun-loving couple to showcase their personalities and infuse their personal style into their day to create a refreshing experience.
As an alternative to conventional paper menus, clear acrylic material was used for the tabletop menus, programs, invitations, and bar top signage. This transparent medium is sleek and features laser-etched text in a modern font. You’ll also see a teal contemporary paisley pattern custom-made for this design. Sit these upright on a blonde wood piece to tie in the same elements of the place cards.
The graphic signage doesn’t stop there. A cheeky neon sign with a is hung on the bar for an old-school vibe. Guest’s recognize the bespoke pattern on the bar front and bar back from the menus and programs. The cohesiveness in these details set this day apart from your average wedding celebration.
