Q: Let’s get to it, what’s your business’ specialty?
A: Creating Customized Cakes
Q: Where can we find you?
A: I bake out of Commercial Kitchen in West Bloomington
Q: Tell us when and how your business began.
A: I’ve been baking my whole life, I grew up in a bakery in West Central Minnesota. After moving to the Metro, I worked with L&B after completing my Master’s Degree in pastry and confectionery, then Sweet Assurance was created.
Q: What makes your company unique from others?
A: We only purchase name-brand products, and we buy locally sourced products. Our cakes are made fresh to order and never frozen.
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: I am not an early morning baker. Depending on the number of orders and when they are due, we start baking around noon, refrigerate our cake, then we torte, fill, and dirty ice the cakes. Decorate after being refrigerated. During our busy season, I usually work from Wed – Saturday Noon to 3 am weekly.
Q: What would you want couples searching for your business type to know?
A: Don’t skimp on the cake. Guests remember what they consume — they will talk about it for years whether it is bad or good.
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: Depending on the season of the wedding, 3-6 months
Q: What’s one wedding trend you’d like to see fade out?
A: 2-tier cakes and cupcakes, Tiered cakes are back as a focal point of a reception. Nobody puts BABY (the Cake) in the corner.
Q: What’s hot in wedding desserts & cakes right now?
A: Unique Flavors, Uneven layers, Dividing cake layers.
Q: What can we expect to see more of in party desserts in the future?
A: Tiered Cakes being the focal point of the reception
Q: What are your other hobbies and passions besides creating delicious sweets?
A: I’m a Fish Hobbyist, Love Plants, and Gardening.
