A: Ultimate Events has become a leader in the event rental industry throughout the Twin Cities and Upper Midwest. Q: Tell us when and how your business began.
A: Ultimate Events today is the product of merging four of the Twin Cities’ leading party and tent rental companies into one. It all started in the 1970s when A to Z Rental, a company that specialized in tools and moving equipment slowly started to offer event rentals. By the mid-90s they became Classic Events & Parties, a company that specialized in providing personal attention to private events and corporate affairs. The company continued to grow and in 2007 purchased Skyway Event Services which carried Minnesota’s most complete inventory of structures, tenting, staging & bleachers.
By 2008, we finalized the purchase of Aarcee Party & Tent Rental, a company that presented the finest in linens, china, and wedding rentals to both residential and corporate markets. Lastly, Ultimate Events most recently purchased Midway Party Rental in 2016. Midway specialized in weddings, residential needs, and corporate events with a vast inventory of linens, catering equipment, and tabletop items. The result has been one company that is uniquely qualified to be a complete source of products and planning for any type of occasion. Q: What makes your company unique from others?
A: Ultimate Events is incredibly unique because of our history, merging four different event companies into one does not only give us the largest and most diverse rental inventory it also gives us an unbeatable staff. Many members of our sales team and production staff have been in the business for over 15 years, giving us knowledge and experience you can’t find anywhere else.
Q: How long have you been in the industry? What do you think has changed the most since then?
A: Personally, I have been in the industry for four years. During that time COVID has caused some major changes to the event industry. We are seeing many couples choose backyard or outdoor venues due to indoor restrictions and many corporate events have gone virtual. However, it is exciting to see many large festivals making a comeback in 2022.
Q: What would you want couples searching for wedding rentals to know?
A: That COVID had a large negative impact on the event industry. Many companies are experiencing labor shortages and difficulty getting equipment due to fractures in the supply chain. I would encourage anyone planning an event to start early and lock in your rentals ASAP.
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: I would say 6-12 months in advance for weddings and large-scale events. Although it’s never too early to start planning!
Q: Any wedding trends you’d like to see fade out?
A: The tradition that weddings have to be all the same and everything has to be white. I love seeing couples get involved in the planning process and add color and personal touches to their big day. Ultimate Events had a wedding this summer that was “UP” themed because the couple loved Disney movies. It was very unique and fun.
Q: How would you describe your personal decor style?
A: Ultimate Events has décor and rental products to go with many different styles including rustic, traditional, modern, shabby chic, bohemian, industrial, and more! Personally, I love a good theme. It’s exciting to turn any event space into Candyland or Paris in the 20s.
Q: What’s trending in wedding decor right now? What trends can we expect to see in the future?
A: Rustic and Farmhouse decor is still going strong along with couples breaking tradition and making weddings more personal and creative. In 2022 and in the future Ultimate Events is seeing many events move to the outdoors due to the impact COVID had on indoor venues.
