Q: Let’s get to it, what’s your business’ specialty?
A: Photography and Videography
Q: Where can we find you?
A: Woodbury, MN
Q: Tell us when and how Zandolee Media began.
A: The owners, Ryan and Sarah Daniel, are graduates of Northwestern College with degrees in Broadcast Journalism and Electronic Communications. They started Zandolee Media about 10 years ago and are fortunate to have served hundreds of couples in the process. “We consider ourselves fortunate to still be in the industry.” – Sarah
Q: What makes your company unique from others?
A: Zandolee Media is a 5-time national award-winning company. We’ve recently launched photography but have always had core values around video: 1. Focus on Your Entire Day 2. Focus on Family. 3. Focus on Legacy
Q: How long have you been in the industry? What do you think has changed the most since then?
A: We’ve been in the industry for about ten years, and the greatest change is how the market perceives value. An artist can have a great following in a short period of time, be the buzz, and 6 months later disappear from the scene all together. So the challenge for businesses is to vibrate their brands at different frequencies for new customers.
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: Quiet time in the morning, prayer, focus on what key tasks are. Connect with Ryan on what we would like to accomplish. Ryan puts in a shift until 11 am while I homeschool the kids. If there are no meetings, grab some coffee in time for my mid-day audit. At 1:15 pm we audit what I have been able to accomplish so far for the day. As a business owner, it’s important to know that the right things are getting your attention. 3 pm to 5 pm would be some more focused work. Dinner and family time. Then from 8 pm to whenever my creative buzz ends.
Q: What would you want couples searching for your business type to know?
A: Our ideal clients would be couples who love our style — it’s simple, it’s sincere and unobtrusive. We tell the story of the day. We don’t feel the need to insert any additional story because the story lives within the hearts of our audience. It lives within the hearts of the couple, the family, and their loved ones. Our job is to cinematically curate their memory.
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: In 2019, we booked 60 couples, so with us adding photography to our packages, dates are beginning to go fast. The sooner a couple can choose their date, the better.
Q: What’s hot in wedding photography and videography right now?
A: We like to think we are lol. We are just very excited about what we are bringing to the Photography space. Frankly, it’s just very healthy. We are proud to be the first to offer photographers a 60-40 split. With 60% going to the photographer. That gives us two exciting points. 1. Our photographers are highly, highly proficient. 2. It solves the interoperability issue between Photographers and Videographers. 3. By extension, the couple receives better services.
Q: Describe your photography/videography style.
A: Photography, there are different artists here: http://zandoleeweddings.com/photography/
As for videography, we call our style the montage style. Our approach is based on classical photography, and it focuses on your entire day, your family and friends, and your legacy.
Q: Do you ever travel to shoot weddings? If so, what has been your favorite destination so far?
A: Yes, we do. We also shoot several weddings in North Carolina. So we love the Wilmington beach area.
Q: What are your hobbies and passions when you’re not behind the camera?
A: Taking care of kids and changing diapers. Lol I enjoy learning, teaching children. Reading and enjoy the life we’ve been given.
LIGHTNING ROUND!
Q: Duck Duck Grey Duck or Duck Duck Goose?
A: Duck Duck Grey Duck. Lol
Q: Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall Wedding?
A: Fall
Q: Veil or no veil?
A: No veil
Q: Mountains or Beach?
A: Mountains
Q: Chocolate or Vanilla?
A: Cho-co-latte
Q: Go-to comfort food?
A: Cho-co-latte
Q: If you could choose anyone to sit next to on a plane, who would it be?
A: Acacia Daniel
