One of the main topics of conversation couples have when they get engaged is typically surrounding finances. Q: Let’s get to it, what’s your business’ specialty?
A: I am a Financial Advisor who loves working with couples so they can start out on the right foot financially. I guide couples through each step so they can feel confident in who they are, where they are going, and how they are going to get there.
Q: Where can we find you?
A: My office is in Minnetonka, and I live in Minneapolis!
Q: Tell us when and how your business began.
A: I actually was a fashion designer for many years. I started my career in fashion because I love building people’s confidence in themselves. I got to a point in my life where I realized that clothes were not the best way to go about that, so I decided to find a career where I could spend the rest of my life building people’s confidence and helping them reach their goals. The rest is history!
Q: What makes Northwestern Mutual unique from others?
A: I think the biggest thing is that our financial planning conversations don’t actually begin with your finances. Instead, we start with you – your life, your family, your priorities, and your goals so you can plan for the future you want to have together. Once we have your big picture in focus, we tailor a plan from a range of financial options using multiple strategies designed specifically to help get you to where you want to be. You and your future spouse are unique, and your plan should be, too.
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: Most of my day is spent meeting with clients in all stages of their planning, whether they are just connecting to see if our team is a good fit, kicking off their planning, or having an annual review. My day mostly consists of being there for my clients when they need me most.
Q: What would you want couples looking for financial advice to know?
A: I want couples to know that having the financial conversations with each other is such an important part of being married. It can be hard and awkward at first, but the more you do it, the easier it gets, and the easier it is to reach your goals. When two people work together to build something, it can be magical!
Q: How should a couple prepare for marriage when it comes to finances?
A: I think before you can even talk about finances, you have to start with some real conversations about what you want to build together. Do you want to start a family? Do you want to retire early? Do you want to have a vacation home? Do you want to plan for charitable giving? Also, know that you don’t have to have all of the answers today, and you don’t have to do it all on your own. A Financial Advisor can help you along the way, whether you want to build a planning relationship or you just want a gut check about where you are at.
Q: What kind of weddings do you like the most?
A: I love small intimate weddings where you really get to spend time with the people you care most about. I went to a destination wedding in the Dominican and had the best time, and I was so inspired by that but wanted to keep it local, so I just had a mini-wedding myself! None of the planning, but all of the joy!
LIGHTNING ROUND!
Q: Favorite place you’ve traveled to?
A: The Dominican
Q: Who’s your most played artist on your streaming service?
A: Right now it is all lo-fi hip-hop to get in the zone… and Lizzo too when I need to get hyped up.
Q: Heels or flats?
A: FLATS
Q: Mountains or Beach?
A: Beach
Q: Go-to cocktail (or mocktail)?
A: Whiskey Ginger
Q: When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A: A Tattoo Artist
Q: You’re at brunch. Are you going for something sweet or savory?
A: Savory
Q: Go-to comfort food?
A: Macaroni and Cheese
Q: Duck Duck Grey Duck or Duck Duck Goose?
A: Duck Duck Goose. Geese are terrifying, and that game is a primer to teach children to run away from them.
