Breanna and Austin Wentzlaff
The First Sight:
We met in 2011 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN. After a couple years passed, Austin finally asked me on a date in 2015…and the rest is history!
On October 9th, 2016 Austin asked if we could go out for ice cream. I wasn’t feeling well but he kept on insisting we “at least go try some flavors.” After I agreed, we walked around Lake Harriet and went to my favorite ice cream spot, Sebastian Joe’s. As I was looking at all the flavors, I noticed one said “Bree.” I shouted “Hey that’s my name!” and Austin replied with “Yes it is…” I then looked back and realized it said “Marry Me?” above it and turned around to find Austin down on one knee. I had no idea he was doing it! He proposed with a 25 cent ring from a toy machine so later that day we went to Jared’s and picked out a ring together!
We both have large families so we knew our venue had to be spacious. We also are very simple people so we didn’t want anything too over the top, because that’s just not us. We toured 1 venue, Earle Brown and instantly knew we wanted it there. It has beautiful large, rustic rooms and an even prettier courtyard for ceremonies and pictures to be taken. Our ceremony and reception took place there, which was quite ideal for not only us, but also our guests not having to travel.
The Favorite Moment:
I took a moment during dinner to really look around and take everything in. I remembering feeling so blessed to literally have all of our friends and family under one roof. How cool is that? I feel couples forget to take a moment to take the day in and truly realize everyone is celebrating your love with you.
I’m not the type of girl who had my whole wedding planned, so when I went dress shopping at The Wedding Shoppe, I was open to try anything! It was the third dress I tried on and was the first time I really felt like I was going to be a bride. It had thin straps, and open back, with a sweetheart neckline. It had beautiful lace and I ended up adding a hoop that made the lace stand out even more.
The Wedding Party:
I knew what colors I didn’t want, but it was difficult to decide which ones we wanted. We ended up deciding on navy blue for our main color. The ladies wore dark navy blue long dresses from Diamond Bride. The groomsmen wore light gray tuxedos, navy blue bow ties, black suspenders with black shoes and a navy blue pocket square. We got an amazing deal at Tip Top Tux for Rent one Get one Free! We had 2 adorable ring bearers that wore similar outfits to the men!
