Brad Kluver and Katie Eslinger met during their senior year of college at Gustavus Adolphus College. One night when Brad (being the gentleman that he is) walked Katherine home from the bar, he courageously asked for her number but didn’t end up using it until months later during their spring break trip in PCB. Although they knew of each other throughout college, they were never formally introduced or spent much time together until their senior year spring break trip. When they returned home, the couple immediately started dating, and the rest is history!
Brad and Katherine are the perfect match, with Brad being the laid back, cool calm and collected type and Katherine mixing in a bit of the “type A” organized and timely half of the duo. Together, the couple makes for a perfectly balanced and social pair. Brad and Katherine love spending time with friends and family, enjoying the outdoors and have passion for their fields of work. Brad is a kindergarten teacher and works on his family farm while Katherine just recently graduated from physician assistant school (congratulations!) and is hoping to work in family practice.
In March of 2016 Brad and Katherine took a ski trip with her entire family, Brad felt the trip was a perfect opportunity to pop the very important question. When he asked Katherine to be his wife on top of picturesque mountain in Keystone, she made the easy decision to say yes!
The wedding planning began immediately after they returned from the trip, as the blushing bride-to-be couldn’t wait to get things rolling. The decision to have the ceremony at St. Phillip the Deacon Lutheran Church in Plymouth was an easy one for the couple. Katherine grew up attending the church with her family, they also had the opportunity to be married by one of the pastors, Valerie Strand along with Katherine’s uncle (a former pastor from Iowa), this made for a very personal and memorable ceremony for all involved as the message and vows truly came from a heart felt and personal place.
Next the couple needed to decide on the reception venue. As Brad and Katherine searched for the perfect spot they immediately fell in love with Golden Valley Country Club. Their favorite part of the club was the gorgeous outdoor scenery and brick exterior. And just like that, the venue was booked!
As Katherine dreamt about the big day she envisioned it as an elegant, classy and beautiful affaire. The couple didn’t want anything too flashy or bright to take away from the natural beauty of their own love. The colors they chose to embody this feel were navy, gray, soft pinks and hues of cream and white.
Now that the date, church and reception venue were all set in stone it was time to move on to the really good stuff…Katherine’s dress! As Katherine tried on gowns at a&bé bridal shop in Minneapolis she fell in love with the dress. The simple fitted gown with soft lace and elegant silk ribbon at the waist fit her perfectly, hugged her curves in all the right places, and captured the exact style she envisioned for the big day.
Katherine knew she wanted her bridesmaids to wear navy dresses but she wasn’t set on an exact silhouette or style. She had the ladies choose from the same designer and collection that offered various style options for tops. Some chose strapless, some a one sided strap and others opted for a classic strapped look. The group had a fun time trying out the different styles at the Wedding Shoppe Inc. in Saint Paul. The men involved in the big day were fitted in timeless gray suits from Combatant Gentlemen.
On June 18th, 2016, after the couple said their “I Do’s” and sealed it with a kiss at St. Phillip the Deacon Church the party began at Golden Valley Country Club. The couple shared a first dance to “Then” by Brad Paisly. The guests were served delicious cuisine provided by Golden Valley Country Club that included Tuscan chicken, mushroom risotto, Lake City pork chops, Surly beer and delicious wine! Oh, and did we mention there was a late night Mac ‘n Cheese bar, it was a huge hit with all the guests who were working up an appetite as they danced the night away to music from Instant Request DJ Entertainment. Guests also had fun taking pictures in a photo booth provided by VIP Booths, and Katherine and Brad were able to look through the fun photos the very next day in a photo book they were given.
Katherine and Brad will forever remember being surrounded by the most important people in their lives as they said I Do and celebrated their new life together. They want all the other couples in the midst of the wedding planning madness to take a deep breath and enjoy the process because, “the time flies by and all of the sudden your day is here and gone!”
