When Michelle and Steve started to envision their big day, they landed on a country wedding theme. Michelle had a good idea of what she wanted to look like on her wedding day thanks to her twin sister’s wedding the year before. After watching her sister walk down the aisle she knew a general style of what she would look good in (twin perks!) Michelle wanted an A-line gown with a sweetheart neckline that had just the right amount of country style. She found the perfect dress at Charlottes Bridal in Lacrosse, WI.
Michelle’s bridesmaids wore navy lace one strap dresses that they decided on together, ensuring everyone would feel their best on her big day. As for the men involved, they purchased charcoal suits with navy ties from Men’s Warehouse in Rochester.
The wedding day quickly approached and soon enough the big day was here, on September 19th, 2015 Michelle and Steve said, “I Do” on Michelle’s parents’ property, the Kuisle Farm in Byron, MN. They walked down the aisle to a piano version of “You and Me.” Then, the couple said their vows in the hay mount of the barn and then moved to the field for their reception with all their family and friends. Michelle always knew she wanted a country-themed wedding and since her parents love hosting the family, the Kuisle property was the perfect option! During the ceremony, their officiant tied in their passion for travel to the new chapter of their life they were about to begin. She urged them to trust each other, relax and remember all the amazing adventures; affection; value each other; empower; love each other and laugh with each other.
After the ceremony concluded and everyone moved to the field for the reception, guests were served a classic and delicious meal that included Chicken Boursin, seasoned vegetables, potatoes, fruit salad and country mix salad. After the guests were full Michelle and Steve kicked off the party with their first dance to “How Sweet It Is” by James Taylor. Michelle vividly remembers a special moment in the evening where Steve pulled her aside to recognize how fast the day was flying by. They took some time to acknowledge how perfectly their big day came together. They took it all in, admiring how fabulous they both looked, how happy all their friends and family were, everything was flawless!
Michelle and Steve were able to show off their crafty side as they executed a variety of DIY projects for their wedding day. A lot of the décor elements were homemade and Steve built a dance floor and two farm tables to use for their head table set in a harvest style. Michelle’s dad even made outdoor working bathrooms for their guest’s convenience!
As Michelle and Steve reflect on their wedding planning process they would tell other couples to work on the process together as a couple. Even if one partner takes the lead during this time it’s important that you find elements of the day to work on as a couple and enjoy every step along the way. Even if your family and friends become overwhelming and the expectations grow you have to stay in it together and do what makes you happy!
