“It was important for us to get married in a church,” explains Paige about the ceremony. “This was partly important as we are both Christian and our faith is important to both of us. But this was also partly related to the fact that when I thought about my wedding day as I was growing up, I always pictured getting married in the church I grew up in, a church and congregation that I always loved.”
For her ceremony at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Paige wore a St. Patrick dress that she knew was hers from the moment she put it on in the dress shop. “I was loving most of the dresses my consultant, Nikki (who was absolutely amazing), was putting me in. But when she helped me put my dress on, I couldn’t help but smile. It was simple, classic, but modern. It felt comfortable and I felt beautiful. My mom and sister knew it right away too just by the way I was acting when I came out from behind the dressing curtain,” recalls Paige.
As for their reception at Round Barn Farm B&B Event Center in Red Wing, MN, Paige only has positive things to say, “We could not have been happier with the location of our reception. When looking at locations for the reception, I really did not want our day to feel like an ‘event’. I wanted it to feel like we were celebrating at a location that felt comfortable and inviting. When we toured Round Barn Farm B&B Event Center, I immediately fell in love with the venue. The location, the house, the barn, everything about the property is absolutely gorgeous. And Kirk and Wendy, well they felt more like family friends than owners of an event space.”
When it came to the colors of their day, Paige was very specific about their classic, comfortable wedding day “I wanted dusty sage green (not mint!) and deep purple with details of different greens, metals, and wood. Caleb really liked the idea of dark navy suits, and I loved how it came together on the day. The colors in our décor mainly consisted of variations of wood colors and antique metals. Any other color was brought in through greenery and floral arrangements created by our amazing florists. Caleb and I both love nature and antique details.”
The couple also saw eye to eye on the flowers, “I really liked natural, deep-colored flowers… moody flowers. I have always loved deep purples and realized within the last few years how much I also love variations of green. Caleb loves anything nature. So, when I started to be drawn towards more natural, less arranged, or symmetrical types of flowers, bouquets, pocket squares, etc., Caleb was immediately on board.”
One of the best parts of the wedding for Paige and Caleb was the dancing. “I love to dance, my family loves to dance, and boy did we dance. We had the best DJ you could ask for, Nick Werner (honestly, he did way more than simply DJ; he was like the icing on the cake of our reception), and our dance floor was full the entire time,” She says. “It was amazing to look around and see our friends from different times in our lives, family friends that have known us since we were babes, and family members from all over the country all dancing together, enjoying the night, and having a grand old time.”
There were sentimental touches incorporated into their wedding that proved to be meaningful for more than just the couple of honor. “We had pictures of both our parents on their wedding days by our cake, and we had an ‘in-memory’ table that included pictures of all our loved ones that were no longer physically with us but were with us in spirit. I didn’t realize how meaningful this table would be to my family members who were the immediate family members of those who were no longer with us. So, while I was happy that I was able to include a detail I really wanted to include in our day, I was even happier when I realized it did something positive for other people in my life,” says Paige.
Overall, Paige and Caleb’s classic, comfortable wedding hit all the important notes they wanted to hit, and they’ll remember it fondly for a very long time, “We wanted to keep our reception full of love, laughter, and good times. A celebration where all our family and friends, made up of all different types of people and preferences, could have fun, enjoy themselves, and feel comfortable late into the evening. When I look back on it, the mood of the whole day really was a celebration. The ceremony was a celebration of love and commitment. And the reception was a celebration of a new beginning with some of our most favorite human beings.”
