Michael Phelps doesn’t do anything small… the 23 time Olympic Gold medalist married his long-time love, Nicole Johnson for the third time on New Years Eve! The newlyweds, along with friends and family, rang in the new year at the 1920’s themed Waldorf Astoria Arizona Biltmore Resort located in Phoenix.
The couple has technically been married since June, when they secretly exchanged vows in front of a small group of family members in their backyard prior to the Rio Olympics. Then, in October the couple celebrated their nuptials with a larger ceremony and reception in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Wedding number two included 50 of the couple’s closest family and friends and took place on the beachside at El Dorado Golf & Beach Club.
Their final wedding celebration wrapped up the monumental year that included Phelps’ fourth Olympic Games, becoming the most decorated Olympian, an (official) marriage and a baby boy. It’s no wonder that the couple couldn’t help themselves, and threw yet another wedding to top off 2016. The black-tie event was a glamorous way to kick off 2017. Since their two previous weddings included an intimate guest list of their closest family and friends, they wanted a way to celebrate with everyone, and New Year’s Eve was the perfect occasion!
When it came to fashion, Michael wore a classic suit with a black bow tie while Nicole opted for a statement gown to ring in the New Year. The bride wore a stunning nude embellished gown from Julie Vino’s Roma Collection. Nicole had worked with Vino, designing a custom gown for her Cabo wedding, so when it came time to choose a gown for their third and biggest celebration, Julie Vino was the obvious choice.
It wasn’t just Nicole’s gown that eluded to a glamorous theme, the couple embraced the over-the-top glitz and glam New Years Eve theme by including sequined table linens, black and gold dining chairs and center pieces that included large feathers.
