We thought that right around the 4th of July is the perfect time to get inspired by the Grand old U.S. of A. for lots of wedding details that have a bit of vintage charm and a nod to Americana in a subtle way. We’ve put together some of our favorite Americana-inspired wedding décor elements that embrace this classic vibe and hope they will inspire you to get creative with your wedding planning ideas.
Celebrating our country doesn’t have to mean your color palette is red, white, and blue, but it certainly could have those hues (or maybe one or two). But, creating a vintage chic wedding that celebrates America of yesteryear can go in an entirely different direction and embrace pastels instead. We love a mix of pale pinks, creams and tans, and textures like wood and rattan in various wedding elements.
Using wooden tables gives dinner a homey feel. For glassware, a variety of shapes, sizes, and textures of mason and milk jars and other containers can hold florals to create a boho-vintage vibe that is equally romantic and low-key.
Of course, the fashion elements of a wedding are always a way to make a statement. You don’t have to go overboard, but we love the idea of having groomsmen don boater hats as a nod to formality, and you can coordinate these which often have grosgrain ribbon around the crown with the same ribbon tied to the bridesmaids’ bouquets. Ring bearers or actual page boys in page boy hats would look adorable and compliment a flower girl with a floral crown. As for bridesmaids, if you’re embracing a pastel palette the options are endless and your maids can look equally exquisite in blush or pale blue hue.
Continuing with our Americana-inspired wedding décor, lawn games during cocktail hour are an easy way to keep guests entertained with good old-fashioned fun. Both adults and kids would equally enjoy croquet, a bean bag toss, or giant tic-tac-toe.
And finally, have fun with your wedding cake or dessert table. A display of mini pies as an alternative or in addition to the traditional wedding cake is not only festive but gives guests many options for their sweet treat. Candied apples and other delectable treats drive home the Americana feel. The way you display your dessert, here on a vintage hutch, adds to the homey feel of the event.
