Ovation String QuartetTall white ceilings, modern and clean lines with endless natural light made for a gorgeous minimalist wedding for Minneapolis couple, Bailey and Per. Even though they had to reschedule their initial wedding plans due to Covid and uninvite 100 guests, their celebration allowed for a memorable and intimate evening.
Bailey, a Veterinarian, met Per, a Senior Art Director, through a mutual friend and when the right time came along, Per popped the question. “Per’s family has a cabin on a remote island on Rainy Lake in International Falls that has become a very special place for us. Per proposed on a trip to the cabin with my parents,” says the bride. They designed her ring together using Per’s family diamonds.
The bride describes the wedding as “simple, modern, and minimalist” with black and white decor, romantic candles, string lights, white calla lilies, and a large white balloon installation. The Hutton House was a perfect fit for their vision, “We loved the Hutton House’s clean and modern style. We love spending time outdoors so having the outdoor courtyard was a must,” Bailey describes.
When Bailey began her search for the perfect gown, she knew exactly what she wanted, “I was looking for a very modern, clean dress — no lace, ruffles, beading,” she says. “The Sarah Seven dress that I ultimately chose was a perfect combination of all of the elements of the dresses I tried on and liked.” To fit the minimalist wedding vibe, her bridesmaids wore contrasting black gowns all in varying styles so each one felt comfortable in what they wore. The groomsmen wore gray suits, while the groom and the bridesman, the bride’s brother, wore custom black suits.
For their socially distant ceremony, Bailey honored her uncle by having him as the officiant and writing the ceremony together. Following the ceremony, they enjoyed a delicious and intimate dinner with just 50 of their closest family and friends. “We had many guests comment on how they thought the catering/dessert was the best wedding food they’ve had! We highly recommend Deco Catering and Cafe Latte,” the bride says of the reception fare.
Bailey says her favorite part of the day was having a sparkler photoshoot after their happy hour! Who doesn’t love a good sparkler pic??
For couples currently planning she advises to “Start planning early and stay organized! Don’t be afraid to ask for help. And most importantly, be flexible and enjoy the process and the day!” And as for their honeymoon plans, they are currently on hold but they are planning to take a trip to Africa for a safari and to visit the Seychelles!
