When Christine and Dave met online, they were looking for a long-lasting relationship but they never knew what they had would eventually lead to marriage.  Even though it was a second marriage for both of them, they didn’t rush into planning a wedding. As Christine says with appreciation, “Finding love in the middle years of your lives was a true gift and blessing from God.”

One beautiful summer evening after both working long days (Christine as a Registered Nurse and Dave as Tax Director) Dave asked Christine to dinner at one of their favorite restaurants, W.A. Frost in St. Paul. After enjoying some wine and appetizers on the patio where they were enjoying the scenery, Dave got down on one knee and proposed. “Of course, I immediately said YES! It was completely romantic and took me by surprise,” says Christine. And so, taking it all in and appreciating every moment, Christine and Dave walked down the aisle three and a half years after meeting and planned a classic daytime wedding.

It took five months of planning to put together Christine and Dave’s “Sophisticated and elegant, but simple” affair. With blush roses, red tulips, blue thistle, and burgundy hypericum berries, navy and burgundy were the colors of the day.  They married at 11 am, and the recently fallen snow created a beautiful backdrop for their morning photoshoot. It took convincing from her family for this second-time bride to wear something traditional, but once they got her to go dress shopping, “the first dress I put on was it! The skirt was as soft as silk and flowed beautifully. I added a cashmere shawl, when outside, in shades of cream, dusty blue, and navy. One of my favorite items in my outfit was my dusty blue shoes!”

“It was most important to us that this was a family celebration of two becoming one. We have 6 adult children between the two of us, we wanted them all to be part of the day. It was vital that this day was enjoyed by all.” So, in making this a family affair, Christine explains the members of the so-called “bridal party”, “We technically did not have “attendants”, all our children walked with us down the aisle and gathered around us while we exchanged vows. To see their joy for us was our greatest gift! My adorable grandsons, Samuel and Lucas, were very happy and proud to walk their ‘Grammy’ down the aisle to marry Dave!”

A classic daytime wedding reception at Edina Country Club that “provided for a relaxed easy atmosphere for our guests” followed a ceremony at The Church of St. Peter in Mendota, MN.  “My youngest daughter, Ellie of The Wedding Guys’ team, had assisted us in choosing Edina Country Club, and having the reception in their front living room area was exactly what we were looking for,” says Christine.

“Looking back on the big day, what I wish we could re-live is the whole day!! Standing next to one another with our children surrounding us as we began our life together as a couple was my favorite moment!” The bride says the entire day was “elegant, joyful, and perfect for us!” Clearly, the second time around was well worth the wait.
