Just as in fashion, trends always come full circle. The Stargazer lily is certainly no exception. Introduced as a hybrid in 1978, the Stargazer became an instant trend that epitomized the 1980’s big-sleeved weddings. Known for its large and striking white, red, and pink petals, the Stargazer is also recognized by its distinct and fragrant scent. Withdrawn from the spotlight for the last decade or so, it is decidedly clear the Stargazer is making its return to stardom.
Last week while we were at Bridal Fashion Week in New York we were seeing stars. No matter where we went, The Palace Hotel, The Peninsula, The InterContinental Barclay; we were star struck. It seemed that masses of Stargazer lilies were everywhere we looked. The interesting thing was they were incorporated with a more modern twist – all on their own: tied clusters sat atop clear cylinders, huge sprays made big statements, combinations of varied colors added unique interest.
We captured some images to demonstrate what we have been calling “High Impact Arrangements”. Consider making an impact statement at the entrance to your wedding or placing them about the room for dinner instead of flowers on every table. Even a single flower when used in large quantities can make a dramatic display for your wedding decor.
