As an integral part of our twice-annual trip to New York City for Couture Bridal Fashion Week we are always on the search for a collection that catches our eyes and speaks to the forward movement of design in the bridal fashion industry. It’s a designer’s collection that stops us in our tracks. As curators of trends, and helping to endorse what “Can Be” in bridal fashion, we understand that sometimes we need to encourage brides to think outside of the box. Designers too often walk a fine line between what sells, and what is truly innovative design – not afraid to put their name on the line and stand steadfast in their vision. Here is our pick for Emerging Designer at New York Couture Bridal Fashion Week – Fall 2016.
THE HOUSE OF BERTA
Berta’s avant-garde designs have taken over the bridal fashion world by storm in the last year surprising even the most veteran fashion editors and bloggers. Her collections are considered among the most praised and anticipated in the world. Berta’s leading line of work is based on high quality, uniqueness and premium level finishes. The luxurious fabrics, imported from fashion capitals around the world, go through a handmade development process in Berta’s studio. The cut, the fit of the silhouettes are unlike anything else, which is why everyone is talking! And talking they did with this seasons collection beginning with a more traditional direction with fuller skirts and advancing to beautiful illusion plunging necklines and backs, a hallmark signature of Berta. Long capes, trains and flowing wispy skirts were accented with embroidered and jeweled lace while layers of fabric and intrinsic embellishments this season added to the depth of the silhouettes. The finale gown with a large tiara and regal cathedral veil doesn’t get anymore dramatic! Speaking of Tiara’s could they be coming back in style?
