In this week’s V.O.W. we spoke with Michelle, owner of Bridal Accents Couture, who believes that “every bride deserves a couture experience!”
Q: What does Bridal Accents Couture specialize in?
A: Bridal Accents Couture is a full-service Bridal Salon that specializes in Designer bridal gowns, bridesmaid’s dresses, custom bridal jewelry and accessories.
Q: What makes Bridal Accents Couture stand out in terms of bridal gown options?
A: We have sourced an eclectic group of designers that cover the most sought-after styles; from romantic lace to glamorous beading and everything in between. We have exclusivity agreements with the majority of designers to make sure our gowns will not be available at every shop in town. This keeps our styles unique and special, and for our brides only! Our wide range of price points from $1200- $12,000 allows us to help many Brides with varying preferred price ranges find their perfect dress. We believe that Every Bride deserves a Couture Bridal Experience!
Q: When did Bridal Accents Couture open and how did it begin?
A: Bridal Accents Couture opened over 20 years ago in 1995. The original owner started the business out of her home and then moved on to a small storefront shortly after. I was introduced to the store in 1996 when I purchased my wedding gown from Bridal Accents Couture. I stayed in touch and after my first baby, I left my managerial position at Nordstrom to work as a part-time bridal consultant at the shop in the year 2000. Over the years I worked up into management, buyer, and eventually purchased the store in 2009. In 2012 we moved to a beautiful new showroom in Burnsville with over 4000 square feet. Our spacious and elegant salon provides a luxurious environment with plush carpets, chandeliers, and plenty of space to feel comfortable and still intimate enough to have a personal and memorable experience of finding your bridal gown.
Q: What is an average day in the shop like?
A: I am always amazed by how quickly the hours fly by during the days at the bridal shop! We are always busy with something! I always start the day by placing all of the orders that brides-to-be have placed the previous day. We also follow up with all of the calls and emails that clients have inquired about that morning. Throughout the day we check in new merchandise that has arrived for customers or new stock for the store. And our most important role each day is assisting our new Brides, Bridesmaids, and Mothers in finding their perfect dress!
Q: What would you want brides looking for their perfect gown to know?
A: All of our gowns are made to order for each Bride. This allows Brides to add their own personal touch and make it perfect for them. If a bride finds a gown that has almost everything she is looking for but she really wanted a lower back, or long train, we can have it made for her that way. This allows a one-of-a-kind look for her that has everything she is looking for. We also recommend that you only bring the people with you whose opinions matter to you most. Too many opinions can be overwhelming. Shopping for your wedding gown should be fun and exciting and a special memory you will never forget.
Q: Any advice for brides who don’t have a specific vision of how they would like to look on their wedding day? Where should they start?
A: It is always helpful to have some ideas of your favorite styles you have found online, in magazines, or on Pinterest, but ultimately until you start trying on yourself all of those ideas can change. Be open-minded and allow yourself to try on a variety of styles to find your perfect dress.
Q: Do you currently have a favorite gown style/look?
A: One of my favorite new gowns is the “Samm” gown by Isabelle Armstrong. It is a classic bridal look, but also feels fresh and modern.
Q: How do you choose the gowns that will be in your store?
A: I make sure that we carry a wide variety of styles so that we have something to appeal to every bride. We also only select gowns and designers who are known for using the best fabrics, having quality construction, and on-time delivery standards.
Q: What are some of the most popular brands/designers you carry?
A: Our most popular Designers are Martina Liana, Justin Alexander, Isabelle Armstrong, Victor Harper, Anna Maier and Nouvelle Amsale.
Q: What do you like about working in the wedding industry?
A: It is amazing to be a part of a shopping experience that is a life time memory!
