Q: What does Powers Ventures specialize in?
A: We are a full-service catering company specializing in customized food selections, bar services and wedding cakes. We make your day as special and unique as possible!
Q: What makes Powers Ventures stand out in terms of wedding catering options couples have in the Rochester area?
A: We are the largest and most complete family-owned and operated catering company in Southern Minnesota. This allows us to combine an almost infinite range of choices with highly personalized service. We also give back to this community, which we have called home for over 30 years.
Q: When did Powers Ventures begin?
A: In 1984 as the Canadian Honker Restaurant; a small 40 seat restaurant across from Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN.
Q: What are some of your favorite wedding dishes to serve?
A: Dijon Panko Crusted Pork Loin with a Dijon Cream sauce and, of course, the Boursin Chicken.
Q: What do you love about working in the wedding industry?
A: The creativity, the challenge, and exceeding everyone’s expectations. Nothing is better than having a couple say, “you guys made my day perfect.”
Q: What’s an average (wedding day) like for Powers Ventures?
A: We start early in the morning to load trucks and set tables with an average of 4-5 weddings a night with some venues over a two-hour travel distance apart. The day ends about 2:30 a.m. after closing the bars and putting everything away. They are long and busy days with all kinds of menus and details. However, with our team every wedding has a lead and a manager, so we are able to put that extra effort into each one to make the day memorable for our brides and grooms.
Q: What would you want a couple in the wedding planning process to know about choosing the perfect caterer?
A: Be open with your caterer, so they are able to exceed your expectations.
Q: Have you served/coordinated any unique wedding receptions or events that stand out?
A: One of our favorites was a food station meal at Villa Bellezza in Pepin, Wisconsin for a large group. We created five different chef food stations with some of the most unique food items we have ever presented. The weather and atmosphere worked out perfect for an early summer night. We even topped it off with cake from the Cake Boss at the end of the night. Great food, drinks, and people made for a night we will not forget for a long time.
