Q: Let’s get to it, what’s your business’ specialty?
A: Newborns and Weddings
Q: Where can we find you? (Location)
A: 970 Raymond ave, Suite G10, Saint Paul, MN
Q: Tell us when and how Giliane E. Mansfeldt Photography began.
A: I have been a professional photographer for 15 years and started my photography business back in 2010. I have always had photography in my life since a young teen but didn’t find out that I wanted to do this as a business until having a discussion with my mother and realizing that this is my passion and calling.
Q: How long have you been in the industry? What do you think has changed the most since then?
A: I have been a photographer for over 20 years with a professional distinction for 15 years. The thing that has changed the most is moving from film to digital.
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: First things first, got to get the coffee! Then I usually start the day by answering emails from the night before. Then I continue with office work until the afternoon and evening shoots. If there are no shoots that day, then I plan out content for social media, blogging, and working on client orders.
Q: What makes Giliane E. Mansfeldt Photography unique from others?
A: This is always a hard question for business owners to answer, either it will sound too cheesy, unauthentic, or too rehearsed. Every photographer will say that photography is their passion so then what goes beyond that? My passion for photography drives me to create art that tells my client’s story. Yes, I am a photographer, but more importantly, I am a visual storyteller that tells other people’s stories.
Giliane E. Mansfeldt Photography
I went to college for anthropology while fine-tuning my photographic skill and I learned that in order to tell an authentic story, you must not alter nor interrupt the story as it is being told. I use this method in my wedding story-telling work. I explain that I am the eyes of the couple that day, and will tell the story of the moment they became a couple.
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: With Covid-19 changing this around so much, I try to work with events the best I can. However, it is best to book a year out.
Q: What’s hot in wedding photography and videography right now?
A: I know that first looks are very hot and many of my couples are requesting them right now.
Q: Describe your photography/videography style.
A: Journalistic, true to life, soft colors.
Q: What are your hobbies and passions when you’re not behind the camera?
A: I am a plant hoarder! Actually, I grow and maintain an urban hobby farm.
LIGHTNING ROUND!
Q: Duck Duck Grey Duck or Duck Duck Goose?
A: Um, duck duck grey duck – is there any other way?
Q: Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall Wedding?
A: Fall Wedding
Q: Veil or no veil?
A: No veil
Q: Mountains or Beach?
A: Mountains
Q: Chocolate or Vanilla?

Q: Go-to comfort food?
