Q: Let’s get to it, what is Hotel Ivy’s specialty?
A: Wedding receptions, ceremonies, hotel room blocks, rehearsal dinners and brunches. Providing a luxurious wedding weekend for couples and their loved ones.
Q: Where can we find you?
A: 201 South Eleventh Street, Minneapolis, MN 55403
Q: Tell us when and how the hotel began.
A: The Hotel Ivy Tower was converted into a Hotel and residence in 2008.
Q: What makes your company unique from others?
A: As part of Marriott’s Luxury collection, the Historic Hotel Ivy is Minneapolis’ only Forbes 4-Star recommended Hotel. The Ivy provides a unique design, sophisticated style, and luxurious service that is unrivaled in the Minneapolis Hotel Wedding market.
Q: How long have you been in the industry? What do you think has changed the most since then?
A: Almost 20 years… I think the market as a whole has changed the most. In that time the number of venues, hotel or stand-alone, as well as wedding-related vendors has seen exponential growth, even through a slow economic period and a global pandemic.
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: In hospitality every day is different. Some days I’m selling events, and on other days I’m detailing the event’s plans. Some days I’m doing creative work, and others I’m working on the administrative side of the business. One morning I might be working with vendors to put our client’s vision together, and that night I’m entertaining new clients. Nothing about our workday is average, that’s what keeps it interesting.
Q: What would you want couples searching for their wedding venue to know?
A: The Hotel Ivy is a decision that you won’t regret, and that your friends and family won’t forget.
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: Depends on the date and season, the sooner the better for date availability.
Q: What is the biggest crowd-pleaser at your venue?
A: The food and beverage, our venue is catered by the award-winning Jester Hospitality company, they operate some of the most popular restaurants in the cities including Parlour, PS Steak, Monello, Constantine and more!
Q: What is the history behind your venue?
A: The Hotel Ivy tower’s structure was originally completed in 1930, used mostly as an administration building until the tower was purchased by W and T Investment Company in 1965 and named the Ivy Tower. S and P Properties purchased the property in 1991, though the tower was boarded up in 1993 when the building’s heating system failed. The Ivy Tower remained relatively untouched until its transformation into Hotel Ivy in 2008.
Q: What are your other hobbies and passions besides creating beautiful wedding days?
A: Staying in good health, spending time with family, seeing new places, and trying new food. I am also sad to say that I’m a die-hard Minnesota sports fan. “There’s always next year”
LIGHTNING ROUND!
