Whether you are planning a romantic honeymoon in Hawaii or a destination wedding in Europe, AAA Travel has all the tools to help you plan an amazing getaway. Get to know one of their travel specialists and find out more about their services below!
Q: Let’s get to it, what’s AAA Travel’s specialty?
A: We’re a full-service travel agency helping clients book travel – including honeymoons and destination weddings – all over the world.
Q: Where can we find you?
A: My office is in Minnetonka (11210 Wayzata Blvd), but we also have locations in St. Louis Park, Eden Prairie, and Maple Grove
Q: Tell us when and how AAA Travel began.
A: The American Automobile Association (AAA) was first formed in 1902 in Chicago, Illinois. The first AAA opened in Minnesota in 1907 and included a travel department. To keep up with the times, a foreign travel department was added in 1927 to handle the increased demand for steamship tickets and shipments of members’ cars overseas. Our love and passion for travel definitely have a long history.
Q: What makes your company unique from others?
A: We are truly still a full-service travel agency – from helping with road trips by planning the routes and booking cars and hotels, to coordinating around-the-world cruises. We want to make sure our customers travel with confidence whenever they leave home knowing that we have their backs no matter what their dream destination may be.
Q: How long have you been in the industry? What do you think has changed the most since then?
A: I have been in the travel industry for over 30 years! There have been many changes over the years and technology has probably been the biggest. We have evolved (thankfully) from handwriting tickets to e-tickets.
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: There is no average workday! We work with our clients over the phone, email, and walk-ins (yes – we still have a storefront) with travel plans ranging from Anchorage to Zimbabwe and many places in between.
Q: What would you want couples searching for your business type to know?
A: Working with a Travel Advisor can actually help save you money and help you get more out of your honeymoon. Our world is constantly evolving and as the experts, we make sure we are always up-to-date on the latest information.
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: We recommend starting the process one year in advance to make sure we cover all the bases of your dream honeymoon, though we have booked honeymoons within a month of departure in a pinch!
Q: What are the most popular locations for honeymoons and destination weddings right now?
A: Cancun/Riviera Maya are incredibly popular because they are more affordable and offer non-stop flights. Costa Rica, Iceland, and Italy are also very popular.
Q: What has been your favorite destination to visit so far and why?
A: My usual response to this question is the last place I have been since it’s so fresh on my mind. But if I really think about it, I would choose exploring Europe. I love how they have preserved their history and all of the old buildings.
Q: What are your other hobbies and passions when you’re not seeking out the best destinations for couples?
A: I love spending time at the cabin with family and friends! Hockey is usually on in our house, and I enjoy doing crafts when I have time.
LIGHTNING ROUND!
Q: What show are you binging right now?
A: Below Deck. I just love seeing the destinations!
Q: You’re in charge of the lineup for your dream concert. Who are your headliners?
A: Pitbull and Garth Brooks. I know it’s an odd combo, but it would work!
Q: Gold or Silver?
A: Silver
Q: Black Tie or Casual?
A: Casual
Q: You’re at brunch. Are you going for something sweet or savory?
A: Savory!
Q: Favorite board game?
A: Do cards count? We play lots of card games at our family cabin.
Q: Mountains or Beach?
A: A mixture of both 😊
Q: If you could choose anyone to sit next to on a plane, who would it be?
A: My Dad! I never got to go on a plane trip with my Dad and I would love that opportunity.
