Searching for the perfect wedding venue is an essential part of the planning process. It is common for couples to choose event venues, places of worship, or country clubs, but to get married at a hotel is increasing in popularity.
Engaged couples and their families can enjoy several amenities including a wide range of room options, in-house catering, and exciting promotions. Here are a few reasons why our experts recommend getting married at a hotel from the Social Sales Manager, Jocelyn Bulger.
Jocelyn Bulger, Social Sales Manager
“Growing up in Lindstrom, Minnesota, I spent most of my childhood planning. From deciding every detail of my birthday parties to creating spreadsheets for family vacations, I fell in love with coordinating the logistics behind events. After graduating from the University of Minnesota Duluth in 2019, I joined the events industry. I have planned events of all shapes and sizes, including trade show exhibits, art galas, and weddings. My favorite part of planning events is the design aspect – taking time to create beautiful, intentional designs that bring a client’s vision to life. I can’t wait to share my industry knowledge with new clients and couples as Social Sales Manager for Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis NE! In my free time I enjoy reading books, trying new recipes, watching reality TV with my cats, traveling with my husband, and grabbing a drink with my girlfriends.”
Save Money and Time
Many couples find themselves on a budget for their wedding day, and having all of your wedding festivities at a hotel, like the Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis Northeast, is sure to stretch your budget. “At Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis Northeast, we waive the room rental when you reach our food and beverage minimums,” shares Jocelyn Bulger, Social Sales Manager at this property. “This means you won’t pay for the space and the food – it’s all-inclusive!”
There is also an opportunity to save some cash by reserving a room block for you and your guests. Bulger says this ensures a discounted room rate for everyone throughout the entire weekend. “When your guests book 30 nights in your block, you and your fiancé will get a free room for the wedding night!”
Transportation can be a significant cost for the day, too, and having everything in one place alleviates the need to bring your guests from one venue to another, “There’s no need for a shuttle when your guests only have to walk down the hall to reach your wedding venue,” Bulger says.
Convenience and Comfort
The experienced staff at Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis Northeast are hospitable, knowledgeable, and ready to help make your day everything you’ve dreamed of, “We’ll schedule your menu tasting, give you our preferred vendor list, bring you in for a final walkthrough, and handle all the details,” Bulger says of their talented team.
Convenience is the top reason to get married at a hotel. From their on-site event staff to a variety of room options, you’re sure to find everything you need. “With 13 event spaces, we have the perfect room for every occasion,” Bulger states. Their newly-renovated hotel is ideal not just for the convenience, but also for the modern upgrades like contemporary lighting and streamlined décor.
“The Minneapolis Ballroom and Saint Paul Ballroom are our most popular spaces for weddings,” Bulger says of their rooms. “The Minneapolis Ballroom holds 500 theater styles and 360 for a seated reception, while Saint Paul seats up to 175. Each ballroom comes with an adjoining foyer, giving you plenty of space for social hour.” They also have a gorgeous outdoor courtyard that is fitting for a welcome reception or ceremony.
Plus, you can get ready on-site without having to go to a salon or even step foot outside of your room. Or, if you prefer a larger space, you can even have an upgraded getting-ready suite, “Included in all ceremony packages is a Getting Ready Suite, which we set up in our smaller event spaces,” shares Bulger. These suites are provided by Dream Day Dressing Rooms and can include bites catered by the hotel.
Everything Under One Roof
Having your wedding at a hotel is truly an all-inclusive experience. Instead of searching for a variety of vendors from multiple companies, you’ll work directly with the hotel staff to plan every detail, “Rentals include venue access from 9 AM until midnight, linenless tables, chairs, place settings, simple centerpieces, stage, dance floor, on-site catering, security, special group rates on hotel rooms, complimentary parking, complimentary wi-fi, and wedding planning experts to help you through the entire process,” Bulger says.
If you are in search of additional vendors, their staff has great relationships with many local vendors. And for any audio/visual needs, they have an on-site representative from AVEX Audio Visual and Lighting who can help you reserve microphones for speeches, additional lighting, and event technology
A place where you and your guests can celebrate, dine, and rest all in one place? It sounds like a dream to us! Your family and friends will be so excited to be with you the entire weekend without worrying about traveling from location to location. This is also a benefit if you are having a wedding in the off-season when the weather is more unpredictable. You won’t have to worry about any snow because you’ll be cozied up indoors all weekend!
Food and Beverage On-Site
Deciding on your wedding eats and drinks is an exciting task but can be daunting when you have to consider several caterers and bartending services. One great thing about a hotel wedding is that all the food and beverage is done in one place, “Our on-site catering team is made up of chefs who have cooked all over the world, and they can truly work with any cuisine. We have a fully customizable catering menu and do our best to accommodate any request,” shares Bulger.
This is particularly helpful if you are hosting a multicultural wedding where you want to incorporate food from your heritage. You can customize the menu to fit your needs — they recently did an incredible Indian wedding! Not only are the packages customizable, but affordable as well, “We have four wedding packages that include a social hour, plated two-course dinner, dessert or wedding cake, and late-night snacks. Pricing starts at $45 per person,” says Bulger.
Delta Marriott Minneapolis Northeast also has a wonderful restaurant right on their property. “If you’re looking for something a bit more casual for your rehearsal dinner or brunch, our onsite restaurant, Twin Cities 400 Tavern, has a cozy and chic private dining room,” shares Bulger. A private dining space inside the restaurant, The Pullman Room, is also available to rent for a rehearsal dinner or brunch.
