Lux Party BusKarina and Wilson met while she was working at a staple Minneapolis restaurant, Red Cow. She’d befriended a co-worker, Michael, who would frequently talk about a friend of his that was cool, funny, and always down for an adventure. “This naturally got me snooping on his social media. You know, I need to confirm this for myself!” shares the bride. “Long story short I was intrigued.” Wilson had been living in Arizona at the time but as soon as they began talking, they couldn’t stop.
During their time dating, the couple went on a dream trip to Switzerland. Wilson, who works in Data Sales, had been planning the perfect proposal for Karina, now the Spa Manager at Four Seasons Minneapolis. “We arrived in Zurich and took a scenic train to a viewing point of the Matterhorn mountain. I was so unsuspecting, taking photos of the breathtaking views, I barely noticed Wilson’s cracking voice asking for my attention,” Karina reminisces. “Once I turned around and noticed him on one knee in the snow, I finally realized what was happening. It was right at sunset, quiet, and just us. It was truly perfect.”
The couple began planning a gorgeous boho fall wedding for 195 guests to be held at Ivory North in Mora, Minnesota. “The location perfectly married our visions. I loved the pure white aesthetic, and Wilson loved the laid-back vibes of the whole venue,” Karina says of the venue. “Also, out of all of our tours, April and Blake, the owners, are the most genuine, caring people. We were so happy to work with them.”
A color palette of neutrals including creams, whites, browns, and blushes effortlessly blended in with the natural elements of the venue and surrounding property. Karina’s vision for the day was clean and classic with touches of boho, “We wanted to keep everything bright and light. Lots of white florals with pops of soft pinks and neutrals,” she shares. “The vibe was a simple elegance.”
On September 11, 2021, Karina and Wilson wed in a romantic, light-filled ceremony surrounded by family and friends. Karina walked down the aisle in a fit-and-flare lace gown with a sweetheart neckline and illusion sleeves from Luxe Bridal. “My stylist, Suzanne, hit it out of the park with my dress. I put it on and felt like it was made for me. It was so pretty and I felt like a bride. She even helped me customize it, as I wanted to add sleeves to my originally strapless gown,” the bride says of her show-stopping gown.
Wilson looked stylish in a velvet emerald green tuxedo fitting for a fall evening. The groomsmen wore classic black suits with a pop of evergreen to match the groom, while the bridesmaids were given free range of style and texture choice within a neutral color palette.
The groom’s father officiated the ceremony which the bride says was incredibly special for the couple. Karina and Wilson chose not to do a pre-ceremony first look so the first time they saw each other was when she walked down the aisle — her favorite moment of the day, “We didn’t do a first look, so having that real, raw emotion was so special.”
Another favorite moment of the day was when the couple saw their vision come to life at the reception prior to guests being seated. Natural-wood tables were lined with ivory cheese cloths topped with centerpieces of fried floral, white roses, and greenery. The venue’s high ceilings were complemented with white string lights anchored by dark wood floors. Guests enjoyed classic comfort food including beef tips, chicken with a garlic cream sauce, mashed potatoes, seasonal vegetables, and a garden salad.
Newlyweds Karina and Wilson jetted off to Mexico for their honeymoon. “We went to Playa Mujeres and stayed at a stunning resort called Atelier,” the bride says. “Our favorite part was definitely the catamaran snorkeling trip. So beautiful and fun!”
The bride has some expert advice if you are currently planning a wedding “Don’t sweat the small stuff, and get a day of coordinator! Lily, our coordinator, dealt with every little detail, so we could be in the moment of our day!”
