If you are looking for your wedding venue and hotel accommodations, check out Hyatt Regency Bloomington by Mall of America! With a spacious outdoor area and ballroom seating for 300+, there will be plenty of room for your celebration. Director of Events Gina Walsh fills us in on what sets their property apart from the rest and why you’ll love their location.
Q: Let’s get to it, what’s your business’ specialty?
A: Our hotel is really known for its fantastic space. We have over 17,000 square feet of outdoor space as well as a large indoor ballroom that seats up to 350 for weddings.
Q: Where can we find you? (Location)
A: Our hotel is located in the South Loop District of Bloomington, off 81st Street and American Boulevard.
Q: Tell us when and how Hyatt Regency Bloomington by Mall of America began.
A: Our hotel was built in 2016. There was no full-service Hyatt hotel located in this area so we were able to partner with the Hyatt Regency brand!
Q: What makes your company unique from others?
A: Our staff. We have the most dedicated banquet staff you will find in the area, most of the associates being at the hotel since we opened. The main compliments we receive from our social groups are on our service and the quality of food.
Q: How long have you been in the industry? What do you think has changed the most since then?
A: 21 years. The popularity of non-hotel venues like barns, event centers, and the freedom of the wedding vision. These days there is no “right or wrong” way to structure the wedding day, just to have a special day that means something personal to each couple.
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: I start by making the rounds in the banquet rooms saying “HI” to all our meeting guests and making sure they have everything they need for the day. Then check in on the banquet staff and kitchen. Back to my desk to answer new inquiry calls and detail events and weddings.
Q: What would you want couples searching for their wedding venue to know?
A: With one Grand Ballroom, you are the main event!
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: About one year out.
Q: What is the biggest crowd-pleaser at your venue?
A: The beautiful park out front!
Q: What are your other hobbies and passions besides creating beautiful wedding days?
A: Cooking, decorating (inside & outside the house), going on walks.
LIGHTNING ROUND!
Q: What show are you binging right now?
A: Yellowstone
Q: You’re in charge of the lineup for your dream concert. Who are your headliners?
A: Fleetwood Mac, U2, James Taylor
Q: Gold or Silver?
A: Silver
Q: Black Tie or Casual?
A: Black Tie
Q: You’re at brunch. Are you going for something sweet or savory?
A: Savory
Q: Do you have any favorite podcasts?
A: The Pete & Sebastian Show
Q: Mountains or Beach?
A: Beach
Q: If you could choose any celebrity to sit next to on a plane, who would it be?
A: Wonder Woman -I know she’s not real but wouldn’t that be awesome!
