Show some TLC for pops! When it comes down to including you and your partner’s families in wedding planning and tasks on your wedding day, it can become conflicting as to how or what they should do. We all know the traditions of having dad walk you down the aisle and having the precious father-daughter dance. But there are many other ways to include your dad and step dad in your wedding! Here’s some food for your thought on including these special figures in our lives.
I. During the ceremony have your dad or stepdad both walk you down the aisle. Many couples have raised the question of how to include both dads, (their biological and stepdad) in this classic tradition of giving the bride away. Having your stepdad walk with you down the aisle halfway and your dad down the rest of the way is a great way to include both dads! Also, consider having two father-daughter dances. One with your dad and the other with your stepdad.
II. We all know the Victorian wedding tradition of “something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue” hands down a very popular tradition many brides still use on their wedding day. This is a great opportunity to include your father in a touching way, your father’s favorite tie clip attached to your bouquet, an old work shirt sewn into the inside of your dress (pictured below), pair of his cufflinks made into earrings the ideas are endless! Remember dream outside of the box as we say.

III. A meaningful way for both you as the bride, and your father is having your father say a blessing, reading, or a poem he chose for you on your wedding day. This would be a very precious moment for the both of you during your ceremony or reception.
