A: Creating lifetime experiences on the North Shore of Lake Superior
Q: Where can we find you?
A: Lutsen, MN
Q: Tell us when and how your business began.
A: Our historic resort is 125 years in the making, founded by the Nelsons from Sweden.
Q: What makes your company unique from others?
A: Our historic property is lakeside on Lake Superior, has authentic North Shore Chic cuisine, and Lake Superior views from almost every venue location.
Q: What is the biggest crowd-pleaser at your venue?
A: The beachside ceremony site.
Q: How long have you been in the industry? What do you think has changed the most since then?
A: 40+ years in Hospitality Management, the core principles of hospitality and guest satisfaction has not changed but the digital methods of marketing, outreach to clients, and small vendor sourcing is a positive change.
Q: Walk us through your average workday.
A: Listening to VM’s from overnight, reading, reacting, and responding to emails from overnight, setting up Zoom calls with potential or current wedding clients, collaborating with our team leaders on menu content, experience management, creating contracts for future wedding/event bookings and managing on-site wedding logistics.
Q: What would you want couples searching for their wedding venue to know?
A: Lutsen Resort has nearly 100 years of wedding/event management experience and we strive to create an experience with our event team leaders to exceed their expectations for a lifetime memorable event.
Q: How far in advance should a couple book with you?
A: Up to 2 years, we are a very popular wedding event resort.

Q: What are your other hobbies and passions besides creating beautiful wedding days?
A: Model trains and traveling the USA in our vintage motorhome
Q: What is the history behind your venue?
A: Lutsen Resort is Minnesota’s oldest resort. Established in 1885, the rugged natural beauty of Lake Superior’s North Shore prompted Charles Axel Nelson, a young Swedish immigrant, to establish his homestead overlooking the lake. He called it “Lutsen.”
